Global Village 2007
By Ethel

To celebrate our 10th anniversary, we decided to spend the whole week celebrating, we planned to start with a Global Village, but since we currently don't have enough “foreigners” to put all the stands, we contacted the embassies and they gladly presented their cultures.

It was sunny on Saturday morning, at 6:00 am the OC was already in the place putting everything together, and they worked all morning.

At about 12:30, just 30 minutes before starting the program, it started raining! We panic! We didn’t know what to do, we were about to cancel the whole event, but then, one of the newies came up with the idea of putting everything closer and the awnings close together so people wouldn’t be wet.

At the end, the event was great! We had the open speech from one of our favorite alumni, Beatriz Guillen (who is getting married next Saturday) we also had presentations from Ecuador, Argentina, El Salvador and Brasil with the “Compañía de Danza Ecos del Mundo” (a major dance studio), the Honduran embassy presented a singer, Rudy, a talented guy who came from Honduras just for this event. Then we had a rock band and we ended up with a batucada!
Here are some pictures.

Congratulations!!! I'm so happy to listen that you have well started celebrations! And this kind of anecdotes make our work so special: Aiesecers always fight against adeversity!
I strongly believe that Aiesec El Salvador has been showing its courage and decission during these first 10 years :D.
I would love to be with u celebrating such an important event! It's so exciting to realize, that thanks to people as u, Aiesec is growing! Thanks a lot!

And as we, peruvians, say:

Congratulations to AIESEC El Salvador! I wish I could have been there to help with a Canada booth. The pictures look wonderful though - the Global Village must have been a great success!

Best of luck in the years ahead - keep on changing lives one AIESECer at a time! We could probably use some lessons from AIESEC El Salvador in planning a Global Village :)

Happy birthday, AIESEC El Salvador!
Only 8 years left until you reach the age of consent (at least here in Austria) ;-)
Wish you great next 10 years! And hope to see even more cool roll calls soon, I spread one of your last ones all over Austria and Romania =)

Rock on,

Dear ESAL team and friends!

Amazing pictures and I can only imagine how great the event must have been...

Though I have only been in ESAL once (2002 as chair of your LDS), I always have been a great supporter of your success story!

Keep on rocking: Congratulations to amazing 10 years and the great achievements, awards and first of all: the excellent members and alumni!

You are a great role model for the whole AIESEC community!

Cheers,

Larsito (MCP GERY 2001/2)
